Going to IZEAFest: Is it about ReBranding?

So the other day I bought my 50$ pass for IzeaFest. It only cost 50$ which is the cheapest convention pass ever! If you do not want to go to convention because of the high price tags of $500 to $1000, then this is the best deal you can get! But it brings a big controversy for me and maybe others. I thought to myself why is this convention so cheap with a lot of very popular speakers.

I then took a look at the hotel rate and it is really expensive, close to $300 a night and the convention is September 11th to the 13th. It is really 2 days with one day pre partying. But I do not think it is about the expensive hotel either, but more of a re branding for the company. Jason Calacanis came into mind pretty quickly because he stated PayPerPost changed their name to Izea, a keynote at Affiliate Summit West.

I thought to myself it might be a re branding of the company which is why the convention is ridiculously cheap. Fifty dollars is really nothing if you are going to network, socialize, and meet up with so many marketers and bloggers. IzeaFest is geared towards social marketers and bloggers, the interesting part about this convention is it is 1 week before BlogWorld Expo, interesting or coincidence?

Jasaon Calacanis brought up a lot of interesting points at the Affiliate Summit West keynote and ridiculed PayPerPost employees. They did have a poor brand which is why they have been booted from the google serps. I know as a blogger IzeaFest will be beneficial because of the prominent speakers such as Jeremy, Neil Patel, John Chow, Brian Clark, etc. These speakers will make it worth while to go and enjoy the hot summer sun at$50 a pass!

But either or I am trying to go to BlogWorld as well. IzeaFest should be interesting as they are promoting it very heavily and were at Ad-Tech as well. So this should be interesting, the best part is the sessions do not intercept one another so I will be attending all the sessions and have a good breakdown of what social marketing and blogging really is.

With IzeaFest being in September, I will be meeting up with Bob Buskirk in Orlando. I will be interested in meeting so many other bloggers and speakers as well. I want to meet all of them and you can see the list here.

But I hope to meet a lot of bloggers and network a lot more! Here is a list of bloggers that I found that are going:

Not too sure why there isn’t a lot of blogs talking about IzeaFest. There are a lot of well rounded and a list bloggers that will be speaking. But it may be because of the poor brand Izea had prior and they are currently re branding? Not sure. Are you going to IzeaFest?

Fast Income with Digital Products

Sometimes when I am down with affiliate marketing and I need fast money to get back some budget back or if I think there is a market for a product, I attack it as fast as possible with a digital product. Well there was a market for such a product that I decided to go ahead and attack. I have been creating some Build a Niche Stores lately and I hate the fact I will look like everyone else. When I first started it took me several hours to play around with the code and template.

So with me wanting to be different, I bet there are others out there that probably have 50 or more BANS sites which look all alike. I thought to myself if I want to be unique there has to be ONE other person that wants to stick out and be different. I decided to go ahead and create 3 templates which can be easily customizable via colors and themes, base on the niche.

Build a Niche Store is a powerful script which is being downloaded all the time. I keep getting checks from Clickbank and when checking my stats it is the Build a Niche Store which is being downloaded. I saw a problem with this popularity, repetition. I decided to cure this by creating a simple digital product for sale.

You probably heard all the gurus say having your own product is the best way in making money online, you get full profit. Well creating a digital product is not that easy, I might start next week as a digital product week. But having your own product is fun and it is very well entertaining. You can easily see the fast money coming in. Below is a screen shot of my dashboard of paypal when I first login, you can see the profit of my new digital product. You can also see the 50$ I spent on the pass for IZEAFest.

Though it is not a lot of money from my dashboard, I think it was successful because I am making money everyday and I have everything automated from when someone hits the buy it now button to the download. I am making money while I am sleeping and I think I am doing an ok job at it. You can see from the above screenshot it is possible to make money online, even creating your own digital product.

A lot of marketers or gurus that make their own ebook or digital product will say to have your own product it is fast and it is simple to create and easy to sell. I have been doing a lot of digital products especially ebooks and scripts. This was my first time selling templates for a very popular product on the market. It was a success and I actually liked it. I encountered some errors with my affiliate script but it has worked perfectly and I bet I have more sales.

There are several aspects that I think you need to have or follow before you make or create your own digital product. All next week I will discuss about creating a digital product, but here are the break downs:

Auto Responders: Free vs Paid Service

As you already know I have switched my email auto responder service to Aweber. I was having way too many issues with my prior service provider and need to upgrade. Now there is an issues with selecting an auto responder service. There are free scripts out there and then there are services which you pay monthly for.

I am writing this because Chad from CDF networks tweeted the other day “why use aweber over phplist (free)? are people just pushing aweber because of the affiliate program? need some input.” Tweet!

I retweeted him back a short response “the only reason why I use aweber is because of mass mailing all my optins at the same time and getting no errors from my host” Tweet!

A lot of others jumped in and helped Chad make his decision. There are free ones out there which can be used but there is an issue especially if you are using a shared hosting. If you have a dedicated hosting then there is really no issues. There are deliver ability issues, optins, hosting issues, etc.

When I first started with email marketing and list building, I had a free service and I enjoyed my list growth. As times pass and my list kept growing I started to get penalized by my host; they even assumed I was spamming people because of the load the free script was producing. As I got more errors and incompletion I decided to look for another solution. My host was even charging me after X amount of mails sent I had to pay X amount. This definitely was not reasonable and I found a cheap service which will do what I need.

That is a quick comparison between a free and paid version. Each comment is ended with either a + or a -, giving you a helping hand in deciding. These comments are of my own opinion. But there are other circumstances with choosing Free vs Paid, you need to ask yourself if you are new or experienced. This can play a big part if you want to pay for a service or not.

When I first started I was being frugal and didn’t want to pay for anything. With list building I downloaded scripts (phplist) to do my list building and email marketing. I was happy with it and though I did not have the ‘nicest’ list but I did have a good handful. I was a noob then and did not want to pay for anything nor was I an expert in producing good free reports or generating a good email campaign. I was not going to pay for services for something I am not that great at.

Now, I am still not an expert BUT my list is getting bigger and demands more dedicated servers to send emails out without any errors or hearing lip from my host. I need to make sure the deliver rate is 100% or close to it. I also have multiple campaigns for PPCs and free reports that i generate to help grow my list. I email and create new emails to update my readers and subscribers of new updates or even new releases that I see. With Aweber I am not hassled about making sure I am not spamming my subscribers. Aweber is very strict with the can spam act and they abide by it very heavily.

It really boils down to is if you can generate a good amount of subscribers and emails. If you can generate a good amount of subscribers, I recommend getting a paid service such as aweber. Aweber is cheap especially if you pay yearly, which I have done. You get the dedicated support and a strict service which abides by the Can Spam Act strictly.

Free scripts are great but what will your web host say?

Just Finished: Google TV Ads Webinar

I just finished listening to the Google TV Ads Webinar. I was informed by a great friend, Wes Mahler, of this webinar and immediately joined. I was 3 minutes late but it was well worth the session. I do not see myself using Google TV ads but they brought up some great strategies which is typically generic for PPC.

What is Google TV Ads?

Google TV Ads is a flexible, all-digital system for buying more accountable and measurable TV advertising. Using the familiar AdWords interface, you can launch a TV advertising campaign in minutes.

The webinar provided a lot of stats and images and used slides to illustrate what they were talking about. They say TV is one of the more popular advertisements and has higher conversions. I do not know if I am allowed to show you the slide because they have another webinar on June 4th 2008.

So just to be safe I will not post any images of the slides that I have viewed via the webinar. But it was very interesting to see Google step into the TV advertising industry. They are doing and taking over the advertising world, I think anyways. The webinar was informative and some aspects of it can be used for traditional PPC. For example:

Creating an effective ad:

Identify you Target Customer
Craft your key message
Support your key message
Decide on a call to action
Pull it all together

This is one of the techniques they show on how to create an effective ad. Looking at this you can use this for a standard PPC campaign and have it be effective. But back to TV Ads. The unique thing about this is they have a marketplace for you to create TV ads, Ad Creation Marketplace.

Ad Creation Marketplace is your place to get started creating your TV ads. You get to see samples and visualize your commercial before it actually goes live. The marketplace can be base on your custom budget, since you are the one spending money. There are services within the Google TV Ad Creation Marketplace for you to use.

The interface is kept consistence with Google Adwords and the simplicity of Adwords as well. TV ads are more specific because you want to target people watching TV at the specific time. Google gives you a great view and breakdown of when your ad should be viewed.

Being specific when your ad should be shown is critical, I think, you want your ads to be viewed by the thousands. Since it will be harder to track on a per click basis, Google TV Ads are measured in CPM (cost per thousand). Tracking TV ads will be a little harder; the only thing I can see is giving unique coupon and links as Google stated. You can see how many people use the specific coupon or use the specific link.

I can see the future in Google TV Ads but it may be harder to track and find the specifics of your targeted audience. I was curious and just watched and listened into the seminar. I am not sure if I will be using the Google TV ads.

Stay Board: Keeping a Reminder Close By

This past weekend I finally got around hanging my bulletin boards and my white board. I love my boards because it helps me stay much more organize than trying to write it down on a piece of paper, which I may lost later in the day. I am at my computer most of the day and a lot of ideas come to my head from just thinking out loud, writing a post, or reading other blogs/websites. I just simply spin my chair around and write it on my white board.

If I am watching a video, I usually have my notepad out and start jotting down notes. After I am done with the video I take my notes and pin it up against the bulletin board. I will even print informative articles and pin it up as well. Flight tickets or passes to conventions I pin up on my bulletin board, it serves a constant reminder to me. I can check and take the ideas and start to generate off it.

These boards help me stay organize, no matter how messy the board is I can find what I need. Let’s break it down:

White Board/Dry Erase Board

A white board is, I think is important, necessary to write things down quickly. It is your idea board and it should have all your ideas that come to your head on a daily basis. It can even have test stats on there, since a white board is erasable. Anything that can be written and erased on a daily basis should be written on a white board. It is there to remind you of daily occurrences that may change on a daily basis.

I use my white board to write down quick stats or ideas that flow through my head. The next day I look at my board and see what I should work on and see what I wrote the next day to start working on. My whiteboard is my guide to my ideas, reality or not.

Bulletin Board

A bulletin board is there to track down your futuristic goals or usage tools. You pin up references and confirmed passes. A bulletin board can be used in similarity to a white board except you cannot write on it and erase text. The bulletin board can be used to pin up your first affiliate check or your future house, giving you a consistent reminder of your goals.

I personally use my bulletin board for pining up references and notes. I pin up airline tickets and convention passes. I have pictures of my future cars and houses. I write down a daily earnings goal and pin it up. I have 2 bulletin boards and I use them a lot to reference a lot of aspects of marketing. I have a PPC reference chart on my bulletin board, just in case I need a good headline or forgot what Adwords is.

Staying Organize by Using Boards

I like using my bulletin boards and white board. It keeps me thinking and helps remind me of future events or task I need to do. It helps me think about my goals and helps me keep more focus on my goals. Each board has its own purposes and reason to why I use it. I try not to jumble everything into one board because it becomes too cluttered; each has a purpose and carries information needed for me to stay focus and goal orientated.

Staying organizes and having a reminder of your stats or goals is crucial to staying up to beat with your competition or your personal goals in life.

I Hate Networks that Use Direct Track

So I have another issue and this might be the last continuation from my prior post about tracking and affiliate managers. I have a total of 3 networks that use Direct Track for their tracking system within their network. I have had the worst and first time experience with one network and they have decided to go ahead and work with me and work with payouts to stay with their network, but I think I might change my mind.

I am thinking about deleting all my accounts that I am a part of which uses Direct Tracking. I find this specific tool is a horrible piece of software that does tracking. I am part of a variety of networks and everyone else’s reporting system is far better than Direct Tracking it is just such a bad system. Here are some issues I have:

Too many reports that are generated that provide useless information
Interface is clumsy and poorly done
Dashboard for Offers is cluttered and provide pointless information
SUBID Tracking sucks!
Direct Tracking links are noticeable
No freedom of affiliate links

When I look at offers I sometimes email my AM because I do not know what link to use, I hate using banner links or links that associate them with pages, banner sizes, email, etc. I just want the link to the landing page, sometimes they do not have that and I am force to use a banner link for direct linking (even if it is specified for search) - does not make sense.

A direct link to the merchant landing page is important on the networks end as well - the can use the data to see more affiliate marketers are using direct linking instead of those cheesy banners or poorly written emails. (I am not a great writer, just saying) Why do you think a unique link is given to a specific banner or specific creative, they use it to track the conversion and CTRs. Why not have a direct link to the merchant!

The most Important to me, SubId Tracking

SubId tracking to me is the most important part of tracking. I want to know keywords and what clicks are converting and how many times. With Direct Tracking I found it weird it does not track on a per click basis, according to my AM. Strangely enough another network using Direct Tracking does record subids on a click basis but it is base on a cookie session. This means a click with a unique subid is generated per click, but if click again or multiple times it will not register in the system more than once.

The other network states it does not track subids on a per click basis but does track it per click, which brings you to a pointless dashboard of the actual link where it came from, which is mostly a redirect link. Now this interests me a lot because I received X amount of clicks on a test campaign and it did not register the next morning when I decided to check it. Talked to my AM and explained to me since the link is cloaked it might not have tracked the link. That statement does not make sense because other links were tracked and what should cloaking matter when the merchant link is cloaked anyways and most CPA networks go through one another anyway which is probably re cloaked 17 times before it goes to the merchants landing page!

I use a unique system to track my clicks so Direct Tracking system is useless to me, but the fact the networks do not use a highly more sophisticated system bothers me since. I sometimes do want to know my per click basis. It is helpful to me I can compare clicks from the network with my clicks on my tracking system, what good is data if you do not have all of it.

What I think I will be doing is give the third network a chance with their direct tracking system, they have a really unique link system which is different from the traditional Direct Tracking links. I am still thinking about this and I will see what happens. All other networks please stay clear of me and the other 2 my account will be deleted - just bad experience, sorry.

Just Bought an LLC - My First Reactions

First of all read about corporations!! I just registered my LLC and bought the domain name for my company. With a lot of reading and asking a lot of people on my twitter, Facebook, AIM, YM, etc - I finally bought and registered my company name. This is a big jump for me as I was not going to register an LLC until I was really banking. But after reading a lot of articles and blog posts, I decided to go a head and buy one.

When I first got into buying my company name I wasn’t really that interested. I was telling myself to do all my projects under my name and affiliate marketing under my name. I didn’t want to go ahead to open a new bank acct for my business, have it registered, deal with lawyers and all that, so I just waited.

I actually started researching corporations after reading Zac Johnson’s post on INC and LLC differences. This actually interested me to look into getting a company name. I was doing everything under my name and I wanted my projects to be under a company name. It sounds better, my company name on the footer of all my websites or projects. It just sounds more official; I also wanted to cover myself when I do affiliate marketing. I do not want to get in trouble with the smaller CPA offers or bigger CPA offers. I feel safe with my LLC on my sites, projects, ebooks, etc.

With so many research and new aspects of a company learned - I was confused and lost. I asked so many people and all gave me a lot of different answers. None of the answers related to another’s answer, I was unable to do a comparison. But reading more and more I decided to go ahead and setup an LLC with LegalZoom. I saw similar services but LegalZoom was more thorough than the other services I inquired about.

LegalZoom was more expensive, but I think it was more in depth than the other websites I visited and inquired about. I am now just waiting for my package to come through and I will be set. I feel better that I have a company name. I feel better that I can say I am a founder of a company. All my websites are covered under my LLC. Here is a small description of what an LLC is:

A limited liability company (abbreviated by L.L.C. or LLC) in the law of many of the United States is a legal form of business company offering limited liability to its owners.

I believe having an LLC boost your confidence and even gives you more of a drive to treat your business as a real business! I would suggest to register your company name and feel more confident your projects, affiliate marketing, business (part or full) is secure under your company name. It gives you more courage to even do more and take your business to a new level. You just feel different when you have a company name than just your name.

The hassles I found with configuring my LLC was the questions being asked when I was applying. It took me almost a week till I finally finalize my registration. They ask so many strange things which I Googled throughout the week. LegalZoom asked a multitude of questions such as title, units, am I hiring in the next 12 months, percentages, and all this stuff that I had to research. But it was good they asked because I would probably need to know these things and read up on it later on.

Finding the time and reading up on LLC is important or any type of corporation. It provides the necessary input for a young aspiring entrepreneur to go out and start his own company, a company I like the sound of that!

Blog Sales Copy vs. Lengthy Sales Letter

The other day I put up a product for sale which surprisingly did pretty well with the initial launch. The product was my Build a Niche Store Premium Templates. These specific templates were meant for the over saturated eBay virtual store on the internet. I personally like to be different and when I first started using BANS, I quickly went a head and customized my own layout, trying to be different. With that said I started seeing more and more store created by BANS. How did I know? Well the layout structure was the same, then it clicked - sell templates!

Since this is a new product that I have launch, I also decided to do a sales copy different from the traditional lengthy sales letter. I went ahead and did a blog post.

In the past there are a lot of people that speak of the lengthy blog post and how there seems to be a scammy feeling about it. The sales letter is way too long with way too many highlighted text and over exaggerated material. A lot of people actually frown on this type of sales letter. But personally I found it to work for me and I still use the sales copy and sales letter technique when selling a digital product. The only difference now is I decided to do a case study on blog sales letter.

I was very hesitant when creating the sales copy for a blog, especially my blog. A sales letter is more for the buyer and not the reader. Well I took a risk in trying and testing this specific technique out, which I don’t read about or hear about or even seen on other blogs. A sales copy on a blog, crazy!

The reason I did this is because I am pretty highly ranked for Build a Niche Store and I wanted to go ahead and take advantage of it. It would be harder to rank a new domain or a new subdomain for a sales letter. A blog is far easier because of several issues:

Blog has auto credibility
I already have targeted traffic
I am already ranked for the specific keyword/s
I have already spoken about BANS on this blog

These specific reasons are the reasons why I thought it would be a good idea to do a sales copy on a blog. Also I distinctly removed my blog sales copy away from the traditional context and structure of a traditional sales letter. I have done the following:

Instead of BIG Heading - I simply bolded
No Highlighted Text
No overdose of exaggerated text
No overdose of images and income results

I stuck to the simplicity of the blog and it proved to be beneficial. (I have not thoroughly tested, context, location, etc) I removed myself from the typical stereotype of a sales letter, kept the basics but also kept the simply layout. All I simply did was emphasized the sales letter within a blog. The blog already has a brand and I thought to use it.

Testimonials

As far as testimonial, I didn’t add any. The reason for this is because I would rather have live testimonials via the comments! This is, I think, far more powerful because it creates a discussion and users that may have purchased the template can leave their actual live comments on the blog post. This to me can mean the better aspect of the blog sales copy. These users are live and real people, sometimes a lot of people think testimonials on a sales letter are fake - on a blog they are real and by interested users or buyers.

These testimonials I personally think are more powerful to future buyers, they see positive comments and they have a better chance of buying. Sure they are not brandable or well known names, but the fact I can have X amount of positive comments can mean the difference of a purchase or not.

Overall

I found the blog sales copy to be pretty powerful. Maybe a review would be more powerful, but I mean I am selling a product. How else can I sell it since it is my initial product. Blog Sales Copy vs Actual Sales Letter - I would say the Blog Sales copy wins just because it has more aspects than a traditional sales letter, which I would have to longer for. A blog has everything I need - will I do more sales copy on my blog? Not sure yet, might do dual split testing or even redirect to an actual blog. So many other variations. But the results in income proved to be faster and a little more less work than a traditional sales letter.

You have purchase a Build a Niche Store Script or BANS for short and are now making some money from your stores. The income being produced from your virtual stores are not sufficient enough to even get you a cup of coffee in the morning! You try to test different color designs, different layouts included in the script, different niches from eBay - BUT NOTHING IS WORKING!

Within the Build a Niche Store script you have the option of pre selecting from 9 pre made templates within the Build a Niche Store Admin. These specific templates are easy to customize and perfect for new beginners such as your self. You launch your site and you are now making some money from your store. You are over excited because you are making a couple dollars here and there. You do more testing but your income slumps!

Build a Niche Store is the best thing that has ever happened to you and even the internet! What if I said there is a flaw with the script? There was an error in the production of the script itself? There was a malfunction in every niche from eBay’s every category? What if I said you are losing money from every visitor that visits your site? Would you have still purchase the script? Would have still promote your store/s?

There is one huge problem with the script and it stops potential buyers from continuing to purchase or even click on your eBay feed link. This specific problem is everywhere with every niche but can be overcome. With the Build a Niche Store it is over saturated, no one wants to buy from any Build a Niche Store, eBay is actually losing money because of this script!

What if I told you the error can be easily fixed, the niche you are in can be easily taken over, the money can be flowing more rapidly into your pocket? What would you think?

The Problem:
Build a Niche Stores are everywhere, it is such a powerful script everyone can now open up their own store and have millions of merchants selling on their store with no problem. They take care of the shipping, the transaction, the delivery of the item, etc. We simply provide a virtual window to those potential buyers. The biggest issue with this powerful script is the repetitive layouts throughout the internet! The problem with this is potential buyers does not get aroused enough to continue to your store because it is so noticeable. SOOO noticeable that buyers just click away from your store, not even giving your store a chance of a click!

You spend all your time promoting and maybe even paying hundreds of dollars to just make a couple dollars. All the time you put into marketing your new store becomes wasted time. You now do not know if your store will succeed with the vast majority of stores out there.

The Staff at Build a Niche Store Did Not Think of how Viral their Script Became! Now, the shopping/e commerce industry on the internet is over saturated!

The problem with these store all over the internet is they all look a like. A user is only given 9 pre made templates, which is obviously being used by someone and somewhere else. What if a person does not understand any coding, they are stuck with the dull grey scale layout.

Let us take a look at some Build a Niche Stores users have created:

As you can see the basic concept is the same, as well as the design. The concept will always be the same and boring, since Build a Niche Store is running base on an eBay feed BUT the design and feel can be easily changed to assure the buyer/s.

The Solution:
What if we can give you a brand new store that DOES NOT LOOK like all the other Build a Niche Stores? What if we change and alter the code just a little bit to look more like a professional store? What if we can change the total look and feel to automatically feel it has a brand of its own? What if we can create a Build a Nice Store that does not look like a Build a Niche Store?!

The lack of post by me is my mistake and I apologize, I recently just moved and now I want to continue my blogging and my experiences with ll of you. It is funny how life can relate to marketing and the things you read online. While moving and relaxing in between I have been reading a lot of blog with redesigns or sites that were recently just redesigned.

With the upgrades we do and the decision we make to change, alter, upgrade; we need to think about the ones that will be affected most. For example this blog has been through many facelifts and redesigns, but I did it for the uniqueness of the blogging world and also to benefit my readers. I feel the traditional blog style is too cumbersome and pretty repetitive among the internet, I like being different.

Also, there are changes that you make that will just benefit your readers instead of just yourself. I found Mark from 45n5.com has recently change his style of his blog. He has made his blog strictly for his users, removing all the ads. It is a phase and decision he has decided. A lot of web designers and webmasters go through this process a lot, I know I do. I use to be a web designer and I get bored of my layouts pretty fast. I find the excitement in designing the web layouts and structure, I like to think and use my imagination. Now, I just outsource it and concentrate on the marketing which I can use my imagination as well.

A lot of bloggers want to make money and find design to be an issue and troublesome as well. There are many reason to upgrade and re think your ways of promotion, design, or even change in your personality. My mindset has changed a lot and so have my personality. I look at money differently and I look at life totally differently.
